This is such a serious topic that I just had to share my thoughts on this matter with you. What is going on with the energy/fuel crisis?
General Motors once had a vehicle that didn’t use one drop of oil. Those cars no longer exist. Yes, they used to exist, but for numerous reasons were taken away and crushed to death. GM said that not enough people wanted the cars… but that was a lie… they had lots of people who were willing to pay for the cars that they were wanting to crush. The car? EV-1 Look it up. See the documentary, WHO KILLED THE ELECTRIC CAR? The ironic thing is… now GM has filed a $15.5 billion dollar loss this past quarter. Something tells me IF they would have never killed the EV-1… and jumped on the hybrid bandwagon in the beginning, the outlook would have been much different. My question now is… why not bring it back? They are trying to bring out these new smaller fuel efficient cars… which is good but… I mean you just couldn’t beat the EV-1. There are plenty of other alternative routes to go like hydrogen, that the President seems to favor. But there’s also plenty of drawbacks as well. Let’s take hydrogen fuel cells for example… first experts say we are like 10 years away from this technology to be available to the masses - that won’t help us now would it? A hydrogen fueling infrastructure would have to be put into place… and that would cost billions of dollars. Anyway, why spend money on that, when we already have lots of plug in stations for electric cars everywhere? I still see the blue signs today… when I drive long and short distances. I also read an article from the utility companies suggesting that California (prone to energy power outages) power electric grid can handle the progression of plug-in electric cars. Not by the hundreds of thousands, which isn’t going to happen right away anyways, but a slow progression towards electric vehicles. If California can do it, other states will follow. The next step from having an EV-1 like car is… charging it by solar panels attached to your home or by wind power - talk about energy FREEDOM. Get the documentary, do the research (Google- EV-1) and tell me what you think. How can we get these cars again? There has to be a way I believe. The more people that send letters to congress, your governor and GM… then it may start to raise some eyebrows and possibly have some kind of impact towards a positive eletrical/solar power change. When we sit here and do nothing - that’s when we become less and less free - and become more like puppets that “they” want us to be. Thank you for caring about our future and our planet. Power to the People!
